Our Services for

Home Owners

When you’re doing your research, it can be difficult to filter conflicting advice about the best possible energy solution for your home. That is why an independent energy consultant can be very helpful. At Net Zero, we offer independent, unbiased advice backed up by calculations.

We look at the specifics of your home to see what solution is most suitable and to quantify opportunities for improvement. Most importantly, we don’t look at each element such as heating or glazing in isolation, we look at your home as a system.

For example, making a house more airtight means particular attention needs to be paid to ventilation to ensure indoor air quality. A well-insulated house might mean a much smaller heating system can be used. Better insulation combined with ventilation could irradicate mould and condensation.

Whether you are building a new home, renovating or extending your existing home, or want to upgrade your home, NetZero can help to make your home healthier, more comfortable and more energy efficient.

Our Process

We Listen
We listen to your unique issues relating to comfort, air quality, energy bills and more. We learn what you would like to achieve and the solutions, technologies and products you might already be considering.

We Calculate
After surveying your home and/or assessing your plans, we start by producing an energy model and calculating your current Building Energy Rating (BER).

We Experiment
We then experiment with potential upgrades and combinations of upgrades to see what affect each has on the rating. We can see what upgrades have the largest impact for your money. We quantify changes in terms of both energy savings and carbon emissions.

We Produce
We produce a prioritised roadmap to bring your home up to an A rating. The roadmap enables you to implement one, some or all of the recommendations in a timeframe that suits you and your budget.

We Advise
We don’t sell products or carry out upgrade works, so our advice is completely unbiased and independent.

We Highlight
We highlight what government grants are available and applicable to your home.

Renovations & Extensions

Lower your energy costs
When carrying out renovations or extensions it is the perfect time to boost your energy rating and future proof your home.

If you already have plans or specifications for works to your home or you are in the process of developing them, we can optimise them for energy efficiency. It is often the case that a few small tweaks bring the proposed building from a B rating to an A.

Part L Regulations for Home Owners

With the introduction of Part L of the Building Regulations 2019, stringent rules regarding energy efficiency now apply to existing homes. If you are carrying out an extensive renovation or adding an extension you may trigger these requirements. If your planned renovations affect more than 25% of the surface area of your home you are required to bring the entire home up to a B2 BER rating. Alternatively, you need to carry out a number of individual improvements that are set out in the regulations.

As part of our service, we can help you make sure you are meeting all your obligations. The works you are planning to undertake may qualify for grant funding and we can help you claim it. We can advise on available grants, guide you through the application process and carry out any supporting assessments required.

Heat Pump Technical Assessments

Heat Pump Grant Application

Since April 2018, SEAI have been offering grants (up to a maximum value of €3,500) for installing heat pumps in homes. As part of the heat pump grant application process a homeowner must have a Technical Assessment carried out on their home to confirm that the energy performance of the home is suitable for Heat Pump System installation. At Net Zero we have a number of SEAI registered Technical Advisors ready to assist you with the grant application process.
