Our Services for

Consultant Engineers

On many of projects we work on, responsibility for demonstrating Part L compliance is being put into the engineer’s design brief.  This is despite the fact that demonstrating compliance requires inputs from a number of design disciplines.  We can either advise you directly on how to comply or we can come into the project as independent energy consultants to ensure NZEB compliance.

Our Services

  • Expert guidance on NZEB compliance

  • NEAP & DEAP Calculations

  • U-value Calculations

  • Provisional BER and Part L Reports

  • Clear & Concise Specification Summary

  • Both Building Fabric & Building Services Advice

  • Final BER Certs and Part L Reports on Completion

Understand Your Obligations
We can tell you what your Part L obligations are. Be it a residential or commercial project, a new build, renovation, extension or fit-out.  We can tell you what standard you need to reach and whether renewable energy is required.

Expert Guidance at Each Stage
At the early stages we can advise on the simplest most economical route to compliance.  If you already have a design, we can tell you if it is NZEB compliant or not.  If it isn’t, we can make recommendations to make it compliant.

Value Added
Depending on your preference, we can strip the building specification down to the minimum required for NZEB compliance or we can work to achieve the best energy rating possible.  We can compare and contrast multiple design combinations to arrive at the optimal solution for your project.

Experienced
We know Part L and the NEAP and DEAP software inside out so that you don’t have to.  Since 2012 we have been carrying out these calculations on a daily basis.  We fully understand the small changes that make a big difference. For example we can answer questions such as ‘Can we remove PV panels completely by using a heat pump? Or ‘Is the natural ventilation sufficient for compliance, or is mechanical ventilation required?

Multi-Disciplinary Team
Our team members are from both architectural and engineering backgrounds so we can help you with the architectural specifications as well as the services.  We liaise with the various design professionals, contractors and product suppliers to ensure that all the parameters interact to deliver a compliant building.

Summary Report
When the designs and specifications are completed, we will confirm they are Part L compliant.  Our detailed report concisely summarises the BER and NZEB results and clearly defines the specification.  Once the contractors don’t deviate from this, the completed building will comply.

Support throughout the project
If the contractor wants to make any changes during the build, for example swapping one insulation product out for another or if you need to make a change, such as using an alternative heat pump, just let us know.  We will update the calculations to check whether everything still complies.
